PhD in Plant Pathology; BSc in Agricultural Science
I have worked as a scientist at CABI’s centre in South East Asia since July 2017. I contribute to project development, laboratory experiments, field studies and proposal preparations from a plant pathology perspective. I also support projects, implemented by the centre, that work across various themes including plant biosecurity, plant health, value chains and conservation of underutilized crops.
I obtained my PhD in Plant Pathology where I developed a rapid detection method or the Coconut cadang-cadang viroid (CCCVd) variants in oil palm and my research focused on the study of viroid accumulation and translocation in the seedlings.
Before joining CABI, I was a post-doctoral fellow at Universiti Putra Malaysia. My work involved detection and gene analysis of viroid-infected oil palm using the latest molecular technologies.
Farmers’ crops are increasingly at the mercy of climate change, pests and diseases. PlantwisePlus will work to help countries predict, prepare for and prevent potential threats and reduce crop losses. We will provide comprehensive support to countries and farmers so they meet the increasing global demand for quality food in a changing climate.
